The Fire Safety Order places responsibility on the ‘Responsible person’ within an organisation to carry out risk assessments to identify, manage and reduce the risks of fire posed to the occupants within and around the premises and ensuring that it is completed to the required standard is a key aspect of the legislation as emphasized in article 9-(1) ‘The Responsible person must make a Suitable and Sufficient assessment of the risk to which relevant persons are exposed for the purpose of identifying the general fire precautions he needs to comply with the requirements and prohibitions imposed on him by or under this Order’.
